You’re lucky if she lets you have your way, assuming you have an idea of how exactly you want to get married. Luckier if she’s okay with you just saying, “yes,” “no,” or “oo na lang” to everything. But fact is, you’re both getting married—so get involved somehow! If you have no idea how (we suspected that much), here are tips straight from wedding planners:
Decide: wedding planner or coordinator?
“Sticking to your budget, keeping to your priorities and non-negotiables, are also the planner’s job,” says Summer Reyes-Carullo, an event planner at Simply Beautiful Events by VRC Creative. “[When] couples insist with what they want with their limited budget, we provide them with a budget file where they can play with numbers.” An objective view like this will help minimize the arguments.
The perfect reception
Make sure you both love the venue and have considered its practicality in terms of location and amenities. Can it comfortably hold your guests and suit your budget? Do they have in-house catering services? Such are offered by well-known venues like Loreland Farm Resort in Antipolo.Aside from a spacious covered area for guests, you can enjoy the view overlooking Metro Manila at Loreland. The eight-hectare resort also lets you and your guests enjoy a nice ambience and well-maintained amenities. Plus, it’s near the beautiful Antipolo Cathedral.
Bela Vitug, a fashion stylist who’s worked on engagement shoots and weddings, suggests: “Consider that alterations must be done because a perfect-fitting pair of pants and a suit from the get-go are rare. If you’re after affordability, you can buy at stores like Onesimus. But if you want to pamper yourself, Vin Orias and Rau Ablaza are designers I highly recommend.”
Preserving the memory
Documenting your wedding with fancy pre-nups, dreamy photography, and same-day edit videos are very trendy these days. However, you don’t have to shell out hundreds of thousands for a complete package. “I encourage couples to think ahead—what is their style?” says Joshua de Guzman of Project JDG Weddings. So, do you really want a dramatic tear-jerking wedding video or one that’s more light and candid? With rates ranging from P35,000 up to a whopping P200,000, choice is definitely key.
Gear up for the honeymoon
The point is to make the whole experience enjoyable and memorable for you both. How about Luljetta’s Place Hanging Gardens Spa in Antipolo? They offer accommodations, spa services, and romantic four-course dinners, aside from their amenities for both small, intimate weddings and for events with up to 200 guests. This way, you can start the honeymoon right after your wedding. Their facilities are also filled with beautiful foliage—perfect if you’re going for dramatic, nature-themed photos. Score!
