FHM was one of the lucky few to have a sit-down session with the man they call “The Animal.” This guy’s huge; watching him destroy fellow superstars week after week on TV does not do him justice. [firstpara]
Of course, we were careful with our queries when the WWE superstar was in town recently to promote the newly launched energy drink Xplode, keeping in mind that we’re one question gone wrong away from getting the painful end of his signature game-ender, the Batista Bomb. Later, we found out that our fear was just us judging Batista (David Bautista in real life) by his height and muscles.
He’s been on FHM once, after all, so we knew our chat with the warm, friendly, and sharply dressed Filipino wrestling sensation wouldn’t get us tragically pinned on our backs.
WHY HE LOVES PACMAN
“Well first and foremost it’s because of his skills. If you’re an athlete or even anybody, even just a boxing fan, you have to be Manny’s fan because he’s just amazing. But then there’s that [Filipino] connection. (laughs)”
FROM BREAK DANCING TO BREAKING BONES
“I know it sounds crazy, but I believe I got a lot of agility from break dancing. But when I tell people that, they just laugh. It’s my form of gymnastics; my form of acrobatics. I think for a guy my size I’m really agile. I still do it every once in a while.”
FROM BREAKING BONES TO HEARTBREAKERS
“I feel sorry for any guy [who wants to date my daughters] and that’s not because of me, it’s because of them. You know, they’re strong girls. They don’t need daddy to stick up for them.”
LIFE AS A WRESTLING SUPERSTAR
“My youngest daughter, she’s really expressive. She really hated that I was gone so much. But this is what I do for a living. This is why I often preach: ‘I do this now because I love it, but at one point I do it because I had to. I didn’t have an education to fall back on.’ So I needed this for my family, and this is what I had to do and I fell in love with it along the way and ended up being pretty good at it.”
THE ONE PERSON HE’S SCARED OF
”My mother. (laughs) She can talk harshly to me. Well it’s probably more out of respect for her rather than fear. You know it’s one of those things that no matter how old you get, if you still love and respect your mom, you always kinda back down from your mom.”
“I had no idea I was hanging out with an actress. The first time I saw her, I was like, ‘God, she’s so beautiful!’ And we had this conversation, it was in a night club I went to, and she was just awesome. It was only through one my bodyguards, Lorenzo, that I learned that she was a popular actress here. I really had no idea. I’d rather not mention her name though.”
