'I Am Batmar': Mar Roxas Is Literally Batman In Redubbed Clip

Yesterday, during the final presidential debates, Mar Roxas came face to face with one of the most fearsome figures in Philippine politics, Miriam Defensor-Santiago. She inquired about his background, specifically how he'll be able to make himself a viable president for a country that's as socially polarized as the Philippines. Mar, a scion of the Roxas clan in Capiz and a Wharton graduate, has been criticized for his elitist background.

Mar had a memorable answer, drawn from a Batman movie:  “As Batman said, 'It’s not important how you came into this world. What’s important is what you did with your life,' and my life over the last 20 years has been a public record."

Filipinos being Filipinos didn't miss the chance to extract a few extra laughs from the situation. Yesterday, a certain "juancarloang" uploaded a clip from Batman Begins, and dubbed over Batman's voice with the quote from Mar himself.

Before you react to the shoddy dubbing, know that Batman's dialogue in the scene actually is: "It's not who I am underneath, but what I do that defines me." Although Mr. Palengke got the message right, we only give him half the nerd point.
