Beaches and bikinis, washboard abs and surfboards, watching a radiant sun setting on the horizon while cracking open a cold one with the boys...
These pairings don’t even come close to the perfection we saw as these two gorgeously ripped beach babes walked along the beautiful shores of Anilao. It was apparent that this was the perfect setting for these two women to make their FHM debut.
It’s amazing how two girls who have never met each other build that much rapport and chemistry with one another in a span of an afternoon. “Opposite kasi yung personalities namin ni Mara kaya parang sobrang dali at nag-work,” says Amanda. And, maybe the fact that their lifestyles revolve around the beach helped a tiny bit as well.
Mara Lopez is a well-known surfer who’s father, Hiroshi Yokohama, pioneered the first surfing school in the Philippines in the '90s. “[Surfing] was definitely not just a sport [for us]. It was a father-daughter bonding thing,” shares Mara.
On the other hand, Amanda Villanueva works most of her magic on the sandy shores as the open spiker for Perlas Spikers. “I like [beach volleyball] kasi sobrang chillax. It’s also easier to communicate as we play the game, kasi you only have a partner, syempre sa indoor there’s 14 of you. Sa beach, I just need to build my relationship with my partner and we’re set to go,” says Amanda.
Everything just came together as we noticed how comfortable both girls were with each other and their own bodies (hey, if we looked half as good in our beachwear we’d probably be that confident as well). We knew that we were going to produce some amazing beach photos and maybe even some lasting beach memories for all those lucky enough to witness the shoot.
Amanda with her amazing physique has gotten used to being the center of attention when she competes, let’s let’s put it this way—"I feel sexy when I play beach volley. I can express myself more,” Amanda says.
Mara isn’t a stranger to showing her sensuality in front of the camera as an award-winning actress for her role in the sexy indie drama film, Palitan. “I like being risky with roles and I like doing a variety of stuff. Like may gagawin ako next, comedy naman siya. I like to dip my toes into everything because I like making stuff. Pero I don't say yes to everything. I read the script and if I trust the director, if I feel like, ‘Oh, this could be good,” then, yeah tara, let's do it!” says Mara.
These two girls definitely have so much more ahead of them and we’re just thankful they were willing to take the plunge with us.
