For its most ardent fans, women and members of the LGBT community, the annual Binibining Pilipinas beauty pageant is as holy as an NBA/PBA championship series is for men. Both stimulate all our senses at otherworldly levels (go bananas for dudes, go gaga for dudettes), and in recent years, have prompted us to flood our social media feeds.
Though it doesn't mean genders can't cross over interests from time to time...
About a week ago, Binibining Pilipinas shared on its official Facebook an album featuring the 40 official candidates for this year's edition of the pageant.
Upon learning this, people at the FHM HQ got into some extensive ogling deliberation to come up with a list of favorites. Will one of these 10 be the next Pia Wurtzbach?
Candidate No. 1 Gail Ventic
Our common interests (literature and writing) certainly help, though Gail's background as a medical laboratory scientist is what makes her more interesting.
Candidate No. 9 Roshiela Navarro Tobias
Her profession (nurse at San Fernandino Hospital) tells us she's, you know, caring. Roshiela's table tennis skills (silver medalist), on the other hand, guarantee a good time with her.
Candidate No. 10 Jeslyn Santos
An "active lifestyle" is an understatement to describe Jeslyn's way of life, being a Broadcast Communication degree holder and volleyball team captain during college.
Candidate No. 14 Paula Rich Bartolome
Owning the runway is just another day in the office for this Hotel and Restaurant Management graduate, who emerged as a finalist at Supermodel of the World Philippines in 2009. Paula's hobbies mirror the qualities of a consummate model: fun (singing, dancing) and fierce (target shooting).
Candidate No. 21 Jessica L. Gonzales
We dare you to try and beat this beauty at chess.
Candidate No. 23 Angela Gene R. Valdes
Although she knows how to act, dance, sing, and resembles Kim Chiu, our sixth pick doesn't seem to be going down that road (show business). Instead, Angela dabbles in cosplay—wherein she make her own costumes—whenever she's not working.
Candidate No. 27 Dindi Joy L. Pajares
Dindi sure aims high; already a flight attendant, she is currently taking flight training to become a pilot. This, aside from having a small general merchandising business in Bataan.
Candidate No. 29 Maria Mika Maxine Medina
The Philippine School of Interior Design graduate splits her time between designing residential condominiums and modeling, committing herself to giving people an eyeful all the time.
Candidate No. 31 Kylie Versoza
Big-hearted Kylie (a former pre-school teacher and a volunteer for the Natasha Goulbourn Foundation) will satisfy your craving for waves and baked goodies.
Candidate No. 38 Angelica R. Alita
Our final pick knows very well the way to a man's heart. Born and raised in Puerto Galera, Chef Angelica dreams of putting up her own local restaurant one day.
