Fame and fortune don't come easy for all celebrities, particularly in local show business.
For every Liza Soberano and Maine Mendoza, there is a long line of hungry yet hopeful stars outside casting calls for bit roles and reality shows. These people endure the heat of the sun, standing for hours just to catch a break in this cutthroat industry, where nothing is ever certain.
This month's cover girls can totally relate to the arduous path one must take in order to attain stardom.
Rising stars Debbie Garcia and Angel Yap are both aware that they have yet to find their footing in the entertainment industry. The former has played low-key roles in movies and TV for years now (she is also an FHM favorite), while you might recognize the latter from her viral recipe video as the infamous Pastillas Girl.
They may have had different beginnings, but these Viva ladies share similar experiences when it comes to navigating these oft-treacherous showbiz waters.
Debbie describes her experience as: "Both thrilling and nakaka-pressure at the same time. This job takes effort, hard work, and a special kind of focus. You need discipline for the long hours in taping. I really enjoy everything though! I get to portray different characters. You can be someone you're not in front of the camera! It's challenging but fun! I definitely love my job, I guess."
If there is anything that Angel has learned about making her mark in Pinoy pop culture, it's that nothing lasts forever. "There's no guarantee," she explains. "Plus, it's up to you to sustain it your momentum and that's the hardest part."
Now that they've made their FHM cover debut, it's safe to say that their hard work has paid off and their legacies have been immortalized.
All the best, girls! You certainly deserve it!
