If you can’t shake the feeling that you’ve seen this roof-climbing, lingerie-clad model before, maybe it’s because you’ve seen her in some TV commercials. Or when she acted in a telenovela (My Super D) with February cover girl, Myrtle Sarrosa. Gertrude Louise loves showbiz and immersing herself in each experience and opportunity that come her way. After helping her down, we chatted with her to find out what’s next for this thrill seeker.
What teleseryes have you been a part of?
In 2016, I was a part of ABS-CBN’s My Super D—my character’s name was Peaches. I was sisters with Myrtle and Jef (Gaitan) in the show and we all had crushes on Dodong (Dominic Ochoa). Oh, and our family owned a gotohan called Gotohan ni Mang Dick, “Tigasin sa Sarap!” Ha ha! I also appeared in Ikaw Lang ang Iibigin, also on ABS-CBN. I played Amanda, Isabelle’s (Coleen Garcia) colleague and confidante.
How was it like working with Myrtle in My Super D?
During the first day of taping because I was really nervous. Sobrang lamig ng kamay ko nun and then she held my hand and said, “Relax! Kaya mo yan! We’ll guide you.”
Was My Super D your first shot at acting?
The only acting experience I had before going into teleseryes was doing TVCs. It’s all very different because you have to be natural when you’re acting in a series; everything in commercials is always a bit exaggerated.
Teleseryes seem to get a lot of flak nowadays for being too predictable.
Some teleseryes right now are pretty repetitive so I wish we could come up with something fresh. We could also do better at editing fantasy series by giving the editors a higher budget!
