Our playlists in the aughts were some of the angriest and saddest we've ever had. Remember those raging times? When every song from The Used to My Chemical Romance to Dashboard Confessional spoke about the rottenness of our lives. We felt bereft of love. Clothes couldn't get any blacker. And those ubiquitous black eyeliners? How do you even say goodbye to them for good? Of course, our emo craze would never have been more heart-wrenching without our eternally black-clad music idols belting out our miseries till we were all cried out. Where are they now? Are they rocking the side bangs still? Check them out below.

Gerard was the lead vocalist and co-founder of My Chemical Romance. Amid rumors that the band would reunite last year, Gerard and Co. came out with a statement that said they'd only reissue their third album, The Black Parade, in celebration of its 10th anniversary. Gerard, who's also a critically acclaimed comic book writer, is set to release two of his new songs as a solo artist—plus, a 40-page comic from his featuring art from his DC Comics Young Adult line—on Record Store Day this April 22.
