Miss France Iris Mittenaere was crowned the 65th Miss Universe at the Mall of Asia Arena earlier today.
The First and Second Runners-Up were Raquel Pelissier of Haiti, and Andrea Tovar of Colombia, respectively, while the Philippines' very own Maxine Medina made it to the pageant’s Top 6 finalists.
The 24-year-old is the second representative from France to win the title, the first being Christiane Martel way back in 1953.
Standing at 5'8" tall, the beautiful Parisian owned the stage, slayed the Q&A portion, and rose above her 85 co-candidates. In the end, she did enough to bring home the coveted crown.
Aside from being a beauty queen, Iris is also currently pursuing a degree in dental surgery. She plans to use her Miss Universe platform to advocate for dental and oral hygiene all throughout the world.
During the competition's Q&A session, Iris praised France's open borders and refugee population. "In France, we want to have the most globalization that we can, we want to have the biggest exchange of people that we can," she told the judges.
Beauty and brains? No doubt, Iris has the best of both worlds. But behind that queenly smile, who is Iris Mittenaere, really? We dug into her Instagram account to learn more about her:
Apparently, travel is her middle name
She's particularly fond of the sun, sand and sea
Iris may be a bigger sports fan than you
Obviously, French dishes are her specialty
She's a cat mom, too!
Looking forward to getting to know you better, and seeing more of you, Iris! Again, congratulations!
