After the six vice presidential candidates went for each other's throats at the PiliPinas Debates 2016, we weren't able to help but notice—and be beguiled by—one member of the post-debate panel...
True enough, we weren't the only smitten with her.
Research tells us that she is sociologist Nicole Curato, actually a familiar face whenever an expert/analyst on politics and democracy is needed. No doubt, behind that innocent, glowing facade is a no-nonsense woman who is ready to pounce on the feebleminded.
She completed her BA, MA, and PhD in Sociology at the University of the Philippines, University of Manchester, and University of Birmingham, respectively. Nicole is also a Discovery Early Career Research Award Fellow at the Centre for Deliberative Democracy and Global Governance at the University of Canberra.
A recipient of the 2013 Ten Most Outstanding Young Men TOYM Award for the field of Sociology, she had been a member of the UP academe (2012-2013, 2008-2009) and one of Rappler's Thought Leaders.
Judging from her Facebook photos (Sorry for the shameless stalking, madam!), Nicole seems to be the frequent flyer. And it looks like that she is quite fond of a particular place...
Of course, the country and her friends here in the Philippines aren't spared from her wanderlust. Her nature of work certainly helps.
Don't be surprised to see her frequently amid a sea of people; after all, it is her job to sort of surround herself with some and just observe them.
How we wish we could travel with her, argue over our disparate sociopolitical views, and not having the slightest problem losing because she knows better than us and she'll easily make us swallow our pride.
