ICYMI, action-adventure fantasy horror film franchise The Mummy is returning (and not for another campy sequel), starring none other than actor-slash-adrenaline junkie Tom Cruise.
One look at the movie's first trailer and the amount of stunts crammed into it, you'll know who the lead actor is even without seeing that familiar face from Mission: Impossible. Watch:
To put those two minutes and 30 seconds simply: an ancient princess got up on the wrong side of the bed and is hell-bent on wreaking havoc on an unsuspecting society.
Aside from Tom and leading lady Annabelle Wallis, another thespian worth watching is the one playing the vengeful mummy Ahmanet—Algerian-French actress Sofia Boutella.
Here's a less frightening image of her:
If you're wondering why she's pretty recognizable, it's likely that you've seen the 34-year-old hip-hop and street dancer in Nike Women commercials or pop and RNB music videos (Madonna, Ne-Yo).
A quick Instagram browsing session was enough to get us acquainted with Sofia and you should, too.
Thing is, she isn't always clad in dirty linen wrapping and covered in ancient symbols.
We're guessing part of the reason Sofia was cast is how well she works with the B&W palette.
As conspicuously beautiful as she is as a mummy, nothing beats her being barefaced and bikini-clad at the beach.
We surrender, Sofia.
The Mummy hits cinemas June next year.
