Hollywood actress Asia Jackson is set to redefine Filipina beauty through the campaign #MagandangMorenx.
Growing up half African American and half Filipino, 23-year-old Asia used to hate her skin tone. In an interview with NBC News, Asia said: “Having curly hair and darker skin, I had major identity issues as a child. People were telling me I’m ‘too white’ because I don’t look black, and I’m not Asian because I don’t look Asian. There’s always the stigma of looking different. I’m considered light skinned in black communities, but in Asian communities, I’m considered dark.”
That’s why earlier this year she started the #MagandangMorenx hashtag to celebrate the beauty of having tanned or brown skin.
“If you’re a tan or brown-skinned Filipino, tweet your favorite selfies with the hashtag #MagandangMorenx and redefine what it means to be a Filipinx beauty,” she said.
Later this October, Asia has once again revived the campaign, and the hashtag #MagandangMorenx is now trending all over the world.
There’s nothing more amazing than seeing a woman who is confidently beautiful in whatever skin she’s in. In the country, we also have a number of babes who are morena and proud. With or without the #MagandangMorenx tag, these beauties are already the epitome of morena hotness in their own right.
