Director Darren Aronofsky’s Black Swan opened yesterday here in the Philippines with good word around it. Natalie Portman has already claimed the Golden Globe, Screen Actor’s Guild Award, and is already said to be a definite win for Best Actress at the Oscars. That’s not mentioning the biggest buzz surrounding the movie: The girl-on-girl action between Portman and Mila Kunis.

The movie tells the story of Nina, a perfectionist ballerina, who lands the lead role of her dance company’s rendition of The Swan Lake. She is perfect for the white swan role, thanks to her fragile and virginal qualities. To embody the black swan, however, is more than a little challenging. She needs to tap into her dark side.

When a rival dancer, doting mother and overbearing dance coach get on her case, things spiral out of control. Nina is led down a delirious, psycho-sexual hole out of which she may never climb.

The whole theme of psycho-sexualism is one that has been, erm, sexploited especially in the 90s. Psycho-sexual thrillers center on individuals, often females, whose complex, sexual inner-workings challenge their sanity.

Black Swan plays off this idea…giving us here at FHM an idea to reminisce on those psycho films that while they scared us, also gave us a case of the blue balls. The ladies in these films are not someone you’d want to take home to mom, that’s for sure. Check out our favorite 11!
