Interest over J.A. Bayona’s Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom is starting to pick up steam after another one of its teaser trailers was released online.
Universal Pictures dropped a sneak peek showing a terrified Chris Pratt, who returns as dinosaur whisperer Owen Grady running for dear life as a stampede of dinosaurs come crashing his way.
Now that you’ve seen it, we came up with a couple of questions that crossed our mind after watching the awesome sneak peek:
What caused the stampede?
Based on the teaser, it appears that the panic was triggered by a volcanic eruption on the island, but we can’t say for sure since the whole clip only lasts for a few seconds. What we’re really interested to know is whether the supposed natural disaster was actually the work of Mother Nature or was it perhaps more of a man-made calamity?
Why is Owen so terrified?
Owen has dealt with all kinds of Jurassic problems in the past, so it doesn’t make sense to see him extremely rattled while he’s in familiar territory. Yes, he’s obviously running from a stampede that would definitely mean the end of him. Plus, there’s extremely dangerous volcanic debris to worry about, but his facial expressions says something bigger is out to get them. What is Owen really running away from?
Where’s the T-Rex?
We saw a handful of dinosaurs scurrying away to safety but there weren’t any signs of the mighty T-Rex. The good news is that we’ll be getting more Jurassic World content with the official trailer launching later this week. Here’s to hoping that we get a glimpse of the fan-favorite by then since a Jurassic Park film without the iconic carnivore isn't as satisfying.
Will Blue be back?
There’s also been no sign of Owen’s pet raptor Blue in the sneak peek, but we did get a preview of sorts after executive producer Colin Trevorrow shared a short teaser featuring Pratt fondly petting an adorable baby velociraptor last week. The raptor bore an uncanny resemblance to Blue, although we can’t tell whether it was a flashback scene or if the raptor was actually Blue’s offspring.
What role does Dr. Ian Malcolm play?
After two decades, Jeff Goldblum finally reprises his character as “Chaos theory” expert Dr. Ian Malcolm. He first appeared in the 1993 and 1997 Jurassic Park films and has since been missing in action, although his character was repeatedly mentioned in the other installments. We can’t wait to see what role he has to play and how Malcolm and Grady’s characters will interact with each other.
Fallen Kingdom presents the sequel to the 2015 blockbuster Jurassic World and is scheduled to hit theaters in June 2018.
