Stars: Daniel Craig, Eva Green, Judi Dench
Before he became fond of shaken vodka martinis and acquired his license to kill, James Bond was an ordinary agent of England’s MI6. But after a slew of successful operations he is soon elevated to “00” status and is given his very first major assignment.
Bonds’ mission leads him to Le Chiffre, banker to the world’s terrorist organizations, who is planning to raise money through a high-stakes poker game at Le Casino Royale. Showing his I-want-to-save-the-world attitude, a characteristic that has endeared him to millions (Apart from his classic intro “Bong, err, Bond, James Bond”), Bond joins in on the game hoping to defuse the evil mastermind’s plan. Adding spice to the gritty Craig are hotties Eva Green (Kingdom of Heaven) and Italian model turned actress Caterina Murino, while Dame Judi Dench reprises her role as “M,” Bond’s uptight boss.
- Danel Craig bested over 200 actors for the role.
- Aside from being Ian Fleming’s first Bond novel, Casino Royale is also the most filmed work of the writer, being previously adapted as a telemovie in 1954 and as a Bond spoof in 1967.
