Game Of Thrones' Sansa Stark Is Your New Jean Grey
If only Joffrey could still see this...

Next year, the new X-Men movie comes out, X-Men: Apocalypse. Directed by Bryan Singer (X-Men, X2, and X-Men: Days Of Future Past), X-Men: Apocalypse excites by its title alone, with Apocalypse being one of these freaks' most formidable opponents ever.

An intriguing development recently came our way as the the director shared this little tweet:

The film will be featuring younger versions of the mutants Jean Grey, Cyclops, and Storm. But perhaps the most interesting part is the actress who will be playing Jean Grey, Sophie Turner, the most high-profile name in the bunch. Turner plays damsel-in-distress Sansa Stark in Game Of Thrones.

In some ways, Jean Grey is a damsel-in-distress herself, routinely fainting from her own powers. But she is indeed, as far as existing literature is concerned, far more powerful than Game Of Thrones' Sansa Stark. It'll be interesting to see how Turner transforms her always-in-suffering look in GOT into something more potent in the mutant role as she takes the reins from former Jean Grey, Famke Janssen.

Along with Turner, the movie also stars Alexandra Shipp, who played Aaliyah in a 2014 biopic on Lifetime, as Storm. Eighteen-year-old Tye Sheridan, who will play Cyclops, got his first break as Steve in the Cannes-winning 2011 film, Tree Of Life.

Notably, this also won't be the first time that an actor from GOT got the X-Men call-up as Peter Dinklage (Tyrion!) has already appeared in X-Men: Days Of Future Past as mad genius/Sentinel creator Bolivar Trask.

Who's next though? Jon Snow as Ice Man? Hodor as Colossus? Margaery Tyrell as Psylocke? All we know is, King Joffrey wasn't too pleased with Sansa's new role:
