Bayani of the year, Heneral Luna, charmed the socks off of Filipinos this year with his cultured choice in words, military elegance, and an utter lack of patience for co-generals that are a) lazy, b) more concerned with womanizing than the war, and c) stubbornly dismissive of his authority.

The Jerrold Tarog-directed movie raked in the money, in spite of a shaky start. It picked up momentum with help from social media, and earned enough to warrant the continuation of this planned Marvel-esque Filipino heroes trilogy.

The next hero in line: Gregorio del Pilar, the "Boy General" and the hero of The Battle Of Tirad Pass.

Yes, Henera Luna fans; it's getting made.

The announcement was made at Sampaguita Gardens in Quezon City last October 29, where a thanksgiving party for Heneral Luna was held. Additionally, the party was held to commemorate Luna's 149th birthday, according to Rappler.

A report by detailed the proceedings: "The producers of Heneral Luna have formally announced that they are pushing through with the movie of Gregorio del Pilar with Paulo Avelino in the lead role."

The announcement comes on the heels of Luna's record-setting run in the theaters. (In fact, Pep reports that it's still being screened in three cinemas in Manila.) The lengthy theatrical stay has led to the movie's historical achievements: It's now the highest grossing historical Filipino film and the highest grossing Filipino indie film.

Bago niyo pa marinig sa iba: #GOYONG, tuloy na tuloy na. #HeneralLuna

The movie also opened in U.S. cinemas, which should only make things harder for the Gregorio del Pilar movie to top.

You've got a lot to live up to, Goyong. We wish you the best of luck!
