Remember the pseudo-historic series Spartacus: Blood and Sand? The gritty action-packed title is soon coming out with a prequel called Spartacus: Gods of the Arena.
Gods is a 6-part mini-series that will serve as a prequel to the highly successful yet short-lived Blood and Sand – actor Andy Whitfield had to let go of his role as Spartacus so he could undergo treatment for cancer – and features Dustin Clare as Gannicus, the new champion gladiator.
John Hannah will return to the series as Quintus Lentulus Batiatus, the Roman owner of a gladiator ludus that he ran at around 70 B.C. Other notable characters such as Crixus (Manu Bennett) and Oenomaus (Peter Mensah) also return.
It is however the preposterous number of scorching hot women that prompted us to watch Blood and Sand in the first place, and the same women that will lead us to follow the prequel as well. And so to pay our respects to these goddesses is a must.
Spartacus: Gods of the Arena will premiere this July 1 on MAX.
