The sequel to Guillermo del Toro’s box-office triumph Pacific Rim sees the human race once again coming face to face with the Kaiju monsters, 10 years after the events of the first film. Hell yes!

There are a few familiar faces, like comedian Charlie Day and Japanese actress Rinko Kikuchi, but the action-packed teaser video also features a slew of new, young characters getting in on all the robot madness. Even if this peek into what will transpire in the movie is already getting our adrenaline pumping, we still have a few burning questions we need answered before coming into it.

After all, we’re not just in it for the mindless thrill of witnessing a Jeager beat up ginormous amphibious creatures! Or are we?

Why is John Boyega is lending his talents to another big franchise?
Okay, so Finn is no longer fighting against his bromantic bud Poe Dameron. And here, it seems that Boyega plays Jake Pentecost, the son of Stacker Pentecost (Idris Elba) from the previous flick. How will he follow in the footsteps of his great, heroic father? If we had to go after Idris Elba, we’d certainly be afraid of high expectations...

Who is Steven S. DeKnight and why is he in the director’s chair?
DeKnight is a constant collaborator of Joss Whedon. He has worked on titles like Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Angel, and Smallville—all great pop culture relics that were successful on TV. He was also a showrunner on Marvel’s Daredevil and served as an executive producer on Spartacus. It seems this is his first time helming an epic such as this. But don’t worry, del Toro remains a major producer in this production.

What exactly are those new Jaegers?
There’s one that rolls like boulder. Another one has a majestic blue sword. Don’t even get us started on the sweet electric whip! We hate the term #squadgoals, but if our squad looked that fucking awesome, we’d be posting groufies all over Instagram. #sorrynotsorry
