We’re an audience spoiled by special effects, the flash, the booms, the bang, and yes, 3D. But before Transformers, before Avatar, before these summer blockbuster extravaganzas, there was silence. Silent films, to be exact; ancient vestiges of a bygone age in cinema when seeing a picture move was already voodoo.
This weekend, that bygone age undergoes resurrection as Germany’s Goethe-Institut, Japan Foundation, Spain’s Instituto Cervantes and the Embassy of Italy brings to you the 4th International Silent Film Festival—the only one of its kind that’s held annually.
The Silent Film Fest has become a tradition looked forward to by film buffs and music enthusiasts. That's right, some of the best local musicians have been scoring these silent films. Check out the gallery below for details about the film, and which of our local musicians will be providing the musical score this year.
The 2-day festival will be held on Saturday, August 28 and on Sunday, August 29, at the Shang Cineplex Cinema 2, Shangri-la Plaza. Entrance is free, but you may reserve seats over at www.ohmydaily.com/events.
