Technically, Hollywood blockbusters are foreign films, but they wouldn’t exactly impress that artsy, The Collective-going chick you’re dating, if ever you are planning to date one.

So why not try a little Chilean flavor? Hot on the heels of the Spanish filmfest, Pelicula, Instituto Cervantes de Manila and Embajada de Chile now present the Chilean Film Cycle, running this whole month of November.

Titled La Independencia de Chile, the Chilean Film Cycle features a special lineup of films and a six-episode miniseries that take you to an eye-opening journey through the struggles and victories, the characters and the heroes who played key roles in Chile’s search for independence. There certainly will be a lot of parallels to our own country’s quest for freedom, making the Chilean film cycle relevant to us, Filipinos. Plus, yeah, you get to impress artsy chicks with the expansive Chilean knowledge you’ll acquire from watching the films.

The films will be shown on all Saturdays of November, at Salon de Actos, Instituto Cervantes at  855 T.M. Kalaw St. Manila. Check out the gallery below to see the films being featured.

Below are 8 films we think you—and your artsy date—will enjoy.
