The Expendables, coming out in cinemas next week, packs an ensemble cast of the world’s biggest action heroes that indicates either of two things: a final goodbye to the 80s action genre or a revival.
Sylvester Stallone stars and directs in this movie, leading a gang of mercenaries called the Expendables with Jason Statham, Jet Li, and several fellow specialists as his crewmen.
As much as we look forward to the mindless brutality that is abound to unfold, we’re very much excited for the reported fight scenes between fellow Expendables Li, Stallone, and Dolph Lundgren.
The film also holds the much-publicized first ever big screen confrontation between legendary action heavyweights Stallone, Arnold Schwarzenegger, and Bruce Willis.
The Expendables has 8 of the baddest action stars that ever graced the genre. And there's no arguing about that. But, for good measure, and being curious George that we are, we went to find out if they are as tough in real life. Let's start with Ahnold here.
Action Hero Flicks: Terminator (1984), Conan the Barbarian (1982), Last Action Hero (1993)
Tough Guy Gesture: While on a vacation in Hawaii in 2004, Arnold Schwarzenegger saw a man drowning nearby. Then at his late-50s, Arnold swam out and immediately brought the man back to the shore. Add to that the fact that he was also already the governor of California that time.
Tough Guy Type: Toned Down
Contrary to his action roles, Arnold in real life is all about prosperity. He loves kids, has quite a record with women, and was never known to engage in fights. Just try not to make him angry.
