Reports are abound that Daniel Craig has decided to end his run as James Bond. Craig has portrayed the iconic British secret agent in four films, with the latest being the blockbuster hit Spectre which was released last year and raked in a staggering $880 million at the box office.
Now, several British actors are already in talks with Eon Productions to become the seventh Bond. It includes names that were already in talks of taking over the role in the past, such as Idris Elba (Thor) and Damian Lewis (Homeland). Even Tom Hiddleston, the actor who portrays the villain Loki in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, is also in the mix.
But aside from those names, another one is making a lot of noise in the race for the highly-coveted position, mainly in part because the actor is a woman. Actress Gillian Anderson of the popular The X-Files series has recently thrown her hat in the ring to become the first female James Bond, a concept that was started by her fans on Twitter.
When news broke out that Craig refused to portray Bond anymore, Anderson’s fans quickly jumped on the chance to have their idol included in the list of the next Bond.
Anderson approved of the idea, posting this fan-made 007 film poster in her Twitter account:
The movement has made a lot of ground in social media since Anderson’s post. One fan even made a trailer that features Anderson in the role.
The trailer makes a strong case for Anderson being the first female James Bond. Expect a lot of opposition however as the character of Bond has always been seen as the embodiment of manliness.
What do you guys think? Are you for #TeamAnderson?
