The folks behind Star Wars have finally revealed the title of their film's latest installment: The Last Jedi.
The announcement was made via Twitter earlier today which reads: "It's official. STAR WARS: THE LAST JEDI is the next chapter of the Skywalker saga."
The post also contains a link to a statement on their website which states: "We have the greatest fans in this or any other galaxy. In appreciation of the fans, we wanted them to be the first to know the title of the next chapter in the Skywalker saga: STAR WARS: THE LAST JEDI."
With this mystery of course comes several fan-made theories, many of which are plausible, probable, and utterly convincing.
So as we wait for the film, which will hit theaters in December 2017 (damn it!), let's take time to read these three totally convincing fan theories:
1) Luke Skywalker is The Last Jedi
The opening crawl of Episode VII says clearly that the First Order "will not rest until Skywalker, the last Jedi, has been destroyed." The tweet above also calls the eighth installment as the "next chapter of the Skywalker saga" which seems to refer to Luke.
2) But wait, it could be Rey
While some believe that Rey will be turning to the dark side, others think she would be the last Jedi. Fans claim that Luke will be killed in the movie and since he trained Rey, there's no one else deserving to be the last Jedi.
3) …or Kylo Ren
Meanwhile, a lot of Twitter users agreed that the last Jedi is Kylo Ren. One says: "I have a feeling 'The Last Jedi' will focus on Kylo Ren, since he's technically the 'last' one in his family. It also explains the red font." Check out the other convincing fan-made theories below:
And before everyone else forgets, the word Jedi is both singular and plural, so everyone could actually be the last Jedi.
