There are new developments on the Erik Matti directed Darna movie that stars Liza Soberano as the titular character, and people can’t stop talking about it, especially, about the film’s updated casting.
Erik Matti stated in an interview that Darna, produced by ABS-CBN Films and Star Cinema, “is probably five times bigger than BuyBust.”
The critically-acclaimed director also stated that Darna won’t be kengkoy or comedic. “Star Cinema and ABS-CBN really wants it to be a serious real superhero movie,” Matti said.
Matti also said that there are already several scenes of Liza that have been taped, but they haven’t made her fly just yet.
But the biggest tidbit the director gave away was that they have completed casting everyone, including Ding and Darna’s most fearsome foe, Valentina.
Direk Erik said, however, that he can’t reveal the names of the actors and actresses just yet. But like most people, we were left wanting more and are now going crazy over who could be playing as Valentina opposite Liza Soberano’s Darna. And now, we’re inviting you to suffer with us, too.
If we’re going to talk about acting chops here, Nadine has proven she can go toe-to-toe with just about anyone, especially her man James Reid. Nadine can certainly act out various emotions with ease and make them seem all too real.
Now, she may look all cute and short, but Coleen definitely has that mataray vibe about her. She can pull you in and make you think she’s harmless, and then bite you when you’re not looking. Perfect Valentina?
Here’s one obvious choice, especially if you’ve watched ABS-CBN’s Wildflower. Lily Cruz-Torillo can be one bad bitch if you provoke her enough. Just what Direk Erik needs, a relatively-young veteran actress that packs all the fire you want in your feisty villainess.
Don’t be fooled by the frequent smiles of Erich Gonzales because she can snap at you if need be. Just look at The Blood Sisters, where she plays three characters that all look alike. That alone shows how much talent this woman has, differentiating one character from another, especially as the plain bad Agatha.
Nathalie Hart may be pregnant right now, but if the film schedule can adjust for her that'd be the best decision on the movie yet. She can look at you and make you feel intimidated and attracted all at once. And we’re not just saying that because she was our last cover girl. You can look at her acting prowess in The Blood Sisters as Sahara opposite Erich’s Agatha. That’s one battle for the ages.
