Trailer For 'The Great Wall' Isn't 9 Minutes Long For Nothing

One thing’s for sure though: these aren't the Mongolians who historically invaded China

Remember the official trailer of The Great Wall, which felt a bit awkward for casting Matt Damon in a Chinese fantasy film back in July? Well a new teaser just dropped and it is massive.

The sneak peek clocks in nearly nine minutes of epic battle scenes and various introductions of the different clans tasked to protect the Great Wall from a yet-to-be-known enemy.

One thing's for sure though: these aren't the Mongolians who historically invaded China.

Some parts of the trailer seem to reveal that the enemy the Chinese are defending against are actually not human but instead are human-feeding beasts with jurassic features.

This will be the first English-language film for Chinese award-winning director Zhang Yimou (House of Flying Daggers).

The Great Wall is scheduled to be released in China this December and is expected to hit US shores early next year on February 17.
