The entertainment industry is in shock following news of director Wenn Deramas' death. He was 49.
Deramas' best friend and manager, June Rufino, confirmed the sad development in an interview with DZMM TeleRadyo earlier today. Upon arriving at Capitol Medical Center where his sister was rushed due to a heart attack, the director himself suffered and eventually succumbed to cardiac arrest after being informed of the former's death.
Friends from showbiz are mourning the passing of Deramas, who reportedly also suffered a minor stroke in 2013 which led to a brief hiatus.
The box-office director had been at the helm of many top-grossing local films, many of which were comedy flicks. He also dabbled in drama during the initial part of his career, and horror later on.
We here at FHM, while truly saddened by the loss, honor Direk Wenn with a compilation of some of the best hits from his illustrious filmography.
Remember when he hilariously recreated that iconic Bata, Bata… Pa'no Ka Ginawa? scene featuring Vilma Santos and a young Carlo Aquino in the landmark Ang Tanging Ina (2003) movie, also with Aquino but this time alongside Ai Ai delas Alas?
What about that time he included John Lapus' Shaider routine—which Sweet usually only showcases in Ms. Gay competitions—in Moron 5 And The Crying Lady (2012)?
Remember when he first put the spotlight on Eugene Domingo (who used to play sidekick to Ai Ai's lead characters) and Pokwang in The Lucky Ones, which paved the way to stardom for both comediennes?
What about that time he made the Maricel Soriano make fun of herself in Momzillas (2013)?
If there is something we must not miss, it's his record-breaking run with comedian Vice Ganda, starting from The Unkabogable Praybeyt Benjamin in 2011, all the way to last year's Beauty and the Bestie.
Rest in peace, Direk. So long, and thank you for all the laughs.
