The first trailer for the much-anticipated new Pokémon film was finally released this weekend.

The 30-second video features Ash Ketchum, Pikachu, and a mysterious blonde bombshell holding a pokéball. Is this stranger a new rival or a possible love interest? All we know for sure is that fans of the franchise are eager to find out.

The teaser was short and sweet and made us wonder what the film will be about. And since we can’t wait until 2018, here are some fun facts, wild guesses, impressive observations, and hilarious reactions by Pokémon fans all over the world.

1) The film is co-made by the producers of the anime Attack On Titan

Though Japanese animation and film studio OLM, which has done the Pokémon anime since 1997, is still the main producer of the yet untitled Pokémon film, it tapped Wit Studio (famous for Attack on Titan) to help them out for this project.

2) Ash looks a bit more mature for a 10-year-old

Ash’s facial features have changed a lot in the past 20 years, but netizens noted that, in the teaser, the Pokémon Master’s face seems to look a bit more mature for a 10-year-old.

Nevertheless, fans seem to like Ash’s new look:

3) The story is still a mystery

There are currently no updates about the film's plot. Some believe that it will continue 2017’s Pokémon: I Choose You timeline (FYI: we’re still waiting for the Philippine showing!), which expounded on Ash and Pikachu’s friendship.

On the other hand, many are guessing (and hoping) that it will be set in a new timeline.

4) The most important question: WHO IS THAT CHICK?

We know, Ash is still too young for a love interest, but having a crush on someone doesn’t hurt anyone, right? Maybe the girl is Ash’s new companion. Or worse, she could be a skilled rival. Fans have their own theroies, though:

Meanwhile, here are some other remarkable reactions and first impressions from Pokemon lovers worldwide:

The still untitled Pokémon film will hit theaters on July 2018.
