When you hear Al James and his Baryo Berde Atbp. peers utter the words, "Art is life," they're not even exaggerating.

The collective, which consists of rappers like Mr. "Pahinga" and practitioners of other mediums, lives and breathes art through lyrical prowess and visual mastery, in the form of hip-hop tracks and t-shirt designs. About their "surplus" of creatives, Al admits, "Malaking tulong siya, yung mga album art namin, posters and merchandise, kami-kami na rin."

It doesn't end there for the man behind the club anthems "Ngayong Gabi" and "Pa-Umaga," who even takes it up a notch with his day job as an art director for an agency. But while his passion also serves as his bread and butter, Al has come to realize that dedicating his existence to his craft doesn't seem so bad after all.
