Last January 13, singer and songwriter Cynthia Alexander officially launched her new album Even Such Is Time through a sold-out homecoming concert held at the Music Museum. The event also featured world/folk-pop ensemble Ben&Ben.

The nine-man band of Ben&Ben opened the show with their hit “Tinatangi.” They also performed crowd favorites such as “Maybe The Night,” “Kathang Isip,” and “Ride Home.”

After the short break, Cynthia finally appeared onstage alongside her band, which was composed of music heavyweights Zach Lucero, CJ Wasu, Kakoi Legaspi, Rommel Sanchez, Louie Talan, Yuna Reguerra, Abby Clutario, and Mlou Matute.

In between songs, she thanked her 168 backers for producing the Even Such Is Time album (it was partly funded by an Indiegogo crowdfunding campaign). She performed songs from her latest release, such as “Dressed For Nowhere,” “St. Cecilia,” “Even Such Is Time,” and more.

She also sang her classics like “The Weather Report,” “Malaya,” and “Comfort In Your Strangeness.”

Ben&Ben vocalists Paolo and Miguel Guico had a very special performance with the award-winning singer as well. The trio did a cover of Cynthia’s older brother, Joey Ayala’s “Dumaan Ako,” and The Beatles’ “Blackbird.”

The 18-song set wasn’t enough for the crowd—they pleaded for more while giving her a standing ovation. Cynthia granted their wish for an encore and sang “Dreams” and “Owner of the Sky.”

A fixture in the indie music scene, Cynthia has released four albums: "Insomnia and Other Lullabies,” “Rippingyarns,” “Comet’s Tail,” and “Walk Down the Road”. She left the country in 2012 to relocate to the United States.
