The first ever public gig inside a volcano took place as part of Iceland’s Secret Solstice, a music festival which was headlined by Deftones.

In addition to Deftones’ set, frontman Chino Moreno played a short acoustic number inside the Thrihnukagigur Volcano following an opening set from Icelandic singer-songwriter Snorri Helgason.


Twenty people paid £1,380 (around P94,000) to witness this once in a lifetime event. To reach the location, the audience had to walk two-and-a-half miles, and then take a six-minute elevator ride, 400 feet down the shaft of the volcano.

According to BBC, Moreno played a Morrissey song, Deftones’ "Change (In The House Of Flies)," and a song from David Bowie’s last album, Blackstar.
