Last July 24, FHM got to witness a DJ duo we thought we'd only hear over at Majestic Casual.
FYI, Majestic Casual is a YouTube channel that uploads songs that would most likely fall under Spotify playlists such as "Feel Good Indie Music," "The Cure For Loneliness," or "Beautiful World." And it had been the common friend that introduced us to Brit DJ duo, Disclosure, and their 2012 hit, "Latch."
"Latch" caught on—its chilled-out vocals, spacey atmospherics, and catchy chorus clearly having that "Man, I'm definitely sharing this on my Facebook wall or with my friends during the next inuman" feel. In the post-radio era, we assume this is how new music spreads. And judging by the 64 million likes that the official video has garnered since October 2012, we can't be completely incorrect.
Since then, the duo, comprised of brothers Guy and Howard Lawrence, had only skyrocketed in popularity. Their 2013 debut album, Settle, landed on top of the UK charts, and would later receive a Grammy nomination for Best Dance/Electronica album—only for another duo to beat them to the trophy: Daft Punk and their scene-stealing Random Access Memories.
During their concert, though, it never felt like we were watching runners-up. These guys were world-class entertainers.
Here's Evidence A:
In this collaboration between Vybe MNL (The xx and The National concerts and Mogwai) and Worldwide Womb (Avicii, Steve Aoki, and Tiesto concerts), Disclosure: Live In Manila was where you wanted to be if:
