Rock icon Ely Buendia surprised the audience and cast members of the Ang Huling El Bimbo musical at Resorts World Manila during their gala night last Thursday. Of course, the musical is based on the songs of Ely's legendary '90s band, Eraserheads.
Ely got on stage with the cast members during the curtain call while the hit song "Alapaap" was playing and gave them congratulatory handshakes as they took their bows. They even posed for pictures after.
During the backstage interviews, Ely praised the production of the musical and how it was unpredictable, even for him. Although he wrote those songs himself together with his bandmates, Ely said that these actors, singers, and musicians showed him how beautiful, funny, and sad the songs could be.
Ely being there clearly meant a lot to the actors who took it as a sort of basbas of their performance. Naturally, they took the opportunity to ask for photos beside one of the all-time greats in Filipino rock music.
