The country's biggest annual free music gathering, Fete dela Musique, revs up this weekend as it invades Makati for a spate of awesome performances by some of our best local musicians today. From June 19 to 21, Philippine musicianship will be on full display as the event spans over 25 venues featuring different genres, from rock, reggae, blues to indie, jazz, and experimental music.

One of the stages we'll definitely be visiting this weekend is the indie stage presented by scene stalwarts NDFY, Vandals on the Wall, and Docdef Productions.

The show will be held tomorrow (Saturday, June 20), from 4 p.m. onwards, and will feature 18 of the most ear-pleasing independent tunesmiths currently around. For those not accustomed to the scene, this event will offer a clear (and FREE) view of how much the Philippine indie music has evolved today. If you're an OPM-lover, attendance is a must!

But don't just take our word for it; check out below a sample of what some of these indie bands has to offer, so you'll know what sort of melodies your ear can expect come Saturday!

1)   FAREWELL FAIR WEATHER

The feels: Best listened to on an overcast day with a hot cup of coffee in hand, feeling like you're in an idyllic coffee commercial.

2)   CINEMA EXPLOSION

The feels: Heavy atmospherics takes us back to Pink Floyd-era psychedelia.

3)   BP VALENZUELA

The feels: The glossy production of CHVRCHES meets the sentimentality of The Postal Service set at the tempo of a leisurely midnight drive.

4)   FLYING IPIS

The feels: An all-girl rock band that rocks out with their cocks out, offering rad juvenile thrills akin to Sandwich's.
