The most epic jam in the history of the internet just happened over the weekend.

As headliners of the Summer Sonic music festival in Tokyo, Japan, the Foo Fighters invited a special guest to the stage, their "new best friend," '80s hitmaker and walking meme Rick Astley.

Ex-Nirvana frontman Dave Grohl started playing what sounded like the opening of "Smells Like Teen Spirit," until the rest of the band segued into a rock version of the pop legend's "Never Gonna Give You Up." Basically, the audience was treated to a real-life rickrolling.



Astley screamed expletives—"Come on you motherfuckers!"—and hyped up the crowd by jumping like an awkward uncle. Kurt Cobain must be (rick)rolling in his grave right now.

At least everyone seemed to have had a good time...
