Aside from a colorful, doodle-ridden, three-way folding cover that tips you off the band’s new, fun vibe, This Year offers listeners a fresh perspective on Moonstar’s identity. They’ve said goodbye to their emo-themed songs and replaced them with a cheerier and more upbeat zest.
Now, one can also dance their hearts out while reminiscing the sweet and bitter tastes of love. Lead single “Ligaw” is easily a fan favorite—it features the vocal chops of Parokya ni Edgar’s Chito Miranda, who also happens to be one of the album’s major producers—while five-year-old song “Migraine”, which debuted last 2007, takes on a fierily bolder form in its acoustic version.
