Last Friday, October 4, we kicked off the long weekend in the grandest way possible: We partied at Neverland Manila 2014! From 6 p.m. to 6 a.m., the Mall Of Asia concert grounds were transformed into a loud, explosive wonderland filled with the world’s finest EDM DJs, their floor-stomping, ear-popping mega-hits, and a sea of Manila’s young crowd, all sweaty in their short shorts, sandos, shades, flower crowns, and whatever the kids are into these days.
For one night, acts such as Axwell, Afrojack, and Bassjackers kept the night alive, kicking with their electronic remixes and EDM tunes that say “if it’s too loud for you, then you’re too old.” The visuals too were wild and hypnotic, marked by trippy videos that played on a huge screen at the center of the stage, blinding laser lights, and at certain intervals, spectacular fireworks. No wonder all these kids were wearing shades, among other reasons.
Now, if you had enjoyed Neverland Manila the way you were supposed to (not entirely sober, and probably a little more than dizzy), it's likely that you've forgotten some of the other moments of the show. Fortunately, we're here to remind you of all those little things as we present a quick list here called "Signs That You Were At Neverland"!
SIGN #1: EVEN IF YOU HAD BEEN PUSHED TO THE BACK OF THE CROWD, THE VIEW WAS STILL FANTASTIC
At other concerts, we'd have fought tooth and nail to get to the front and get a better view of the act. At this party, we gladly settled for the back.
SIGN #2: SHORT SHORTS EVERYWHERE
Like any good festival worth its salt, there was no shortage of girls in short shorts. There was also no shortage of girls trying to ride on their boyfriend's shoulders, demonstrated here by that guy in the left portion. We told you to stretch those shoulder muscles!
SIGN #3: SANDO, SANDO EVERYWHERE
While girls flashed their legs, the guys had no problem at all showing off their guns. Know who had a problem about it? Us. And our flabby limbs. Just you wait, Neverland Manila 2015. We're headed to the gym as we type this.
SIGN #4: THE VISUALS MADE YOU FEEL LIKE A KID AGAIN
A huge portion of the crowd didn't need the visuals to make them feel like a kid again, because they were, by many definitions, still actually kids.
But for us, it felt like we were a youngin all over again who's seeing a lusis light up for the first time. From New Year-inspired fireworks displays to a rainbow of laser beams to explosions of confetti, the show wasn't just a treat for the ears; it was also a buffet for the eyes.
