With the advent of DIY music production equipment such as loopers and mics, more aspiring artists are able to release tracks without the help of a formal recording studio. The term "independent" has actually become more relevant in the industry than ever.
Although, as it turns out, self-produced music can only take an artist so far, according to Aaron Gonzales—one of the founders of Point Bee Multimedia—and his team of sound engineers, whose work doesn't end after the tracks are recorded. In fact, producing a full record can take as long as a couple of years, depending on what post-production and its many intricacies will require. "We make sure that the message and emotion of the song gets across to the listeners," Aaron explains. "We make sure that the sound is world-class."
Point Bee wouldn't have lasted for almost a decade (their 10th anniversary is in 2019) if not for its top-notch services, which include voice-over and jingle work. The company has collaborated with both budding and big-name clients such as Siakol, Reese Lansangan, and Up Dharma Down (their pop hit "Tadhana" was birthed within Bee's four walls). Aaron admits that some artists will be very open to ideas, and some will be very adamant and very strict with their work, but the studio ultimately recognizes that this is, in fact, a huge part of the job. Because, in the end, it takes more than one man to make the music, streamline the sound, and actually get it out there.
Point Bee was gracious enough to give FHM a glimpse of where the magic happens—a place most local acts consider as a hive of creativity.
