The group didn't reveal further details about parting ways with Roy, other than "circumstances beyond our control." Razorback, which now only has Tirso Ripoll (guitar), Manuel Legarda (guitar), Brian Velasco (drums), and Louie Talan (bass), assured fans—called Boars—that they will "forge ahead" and keep on rocking.
The younger brother of the late Karl Roy replaced original vocalist Jose Mari Cuervo a few years after the group was founded. They have gone from just playing regularly in clubs to opening for legendary international acts like Silverchair, Rage Against the Machine, and Metallica. With nine albums under its belt, Razorback is regarded as one of the pillars of Pinoy hard rock.
Despite news of the band still pushing through, the Boars can't help but lament online on the loss of an iconic voice. Some followers demanded an explanation for the unfortunate development, while others were already thinking of who could possibly fill in for Roy.
Regardless of the reasons from both parties, that won't take away from the collective greatness of Razorback and Kevin Roy. As a fitting farewell to the almost three decades of their head-bangin' partnership, here's a compilation of their best performances on YouTube.
We're sure that the remaining members will continue to rock out...
