In the future when we're doing ten best lists of the decades past articles, it's inevitable that the #Selfie will claim a spot. Hate it or love it, it's here and it's here to stay. We've given you reasons not to do it, but, at the same time, have witnessed a complete online tournament of who can come up with the most creative ones.
No one can escape it.
Now, it will be even harder to elude it as the selfie now has its own anthem:
It was only a matter of time, wasn't it? Road trips were immortalized with the Eraserheads' "Overdrive," partying was immortalized by the Beastie Boys' "Fight For Your Right (To Party)," and now, those self-taken photos will be immortalized by New York DJ duo, The Chainsmokers. Their song is your typical club-stomper with heavy bass pounding and ripping electronic blasts. They released their harana to the selfie generation, "#SELFIE," on January 29, 2014. It currently has nearly 2,000,000 hits on YouTube.
Fitting for today's milieu, the video is composed not only of your typical club-happy moments, but also a smattering of all sorts of selfies contributed by fans themselves. Below we have a sample of our favorites! We officially change our stance on selfies, today: Selfies rule! Here are the types of selfies we came across in the nearly 4-minute vid.
1) The typical pouty-faced selfie
2) The one with the hair that makes us go: "buhok ba niya talaga yan?!"
3) The David Hasselhoff-looks-sober selfie
4) The "I'm-with-mom" selfie!
5) The Snoopy Doggy Dogg selfie
6) The totally whack "I'm-in-a-pussy costume and we're having so much fun we have to stick our tongue out" selfies!
