13 Things We Learned at Lady Gaga’s Concert

Yup, we saw Lady Gaga!

So we found ourselves at Lady Gaga’s Born This Way Ball last Tuesday, May 22. Yup, that concert that made the headlines for attracting an angry, religious, placard-carrying mob. The venue: SM’s newly-minted concert venue, the Mall of Asia Arena in Pasay City. Lady Gaga’s Born This Way Ball, a two-night affair, was the Arena’s debut event.

Why were we there?

One, we wanted to see what the fuss was all about. Two, we were excited to see what the Mall of Asia Arena, NCAA and UAAP basketball’s future home, has to offer. The Arena has a full seating capacity of 20,000—5,000 more than the Smart-Araneta Coliseum—and equipped with modern, world-class amenities. Three, there are far worse ways to spend a Tuesday night than to see the Fame Monster in person. And four, okay, we wanted to see that Gaga lady perform “Bad Romance” or “Telephone” live.

No shame in that; we’ve always had respect for her attempts to push the envelope in pop music—her trademark fancy costumes but a part of the act.

Now you might be asking, if we took pictures so you can experience the concert too. Why, of course, we did, good sir! Here are 13 of them, along with the bits and pieces we learned during the two-hour performance.
