Neo-hippies who love art and music and nature will once again flock to picturesque Mt. Malasimbo in Puerto Galera in Mindoro this coming March 1 to 3, 2013 for another mountain-shaking romp courtesy of the Malasimbo Music & Arts Festival 2013.
Now on its third year, the festival has built up tremendous hype in the hipster and nagpapaka-hipster communities. From 1,500 attendees in its inaugural year, attendance doubled to more than 3,500 attendees the following year—filling the terraces of the Malasimbo Amphitheatre to the grassy brim. Proudly, we were able to take part in the festivities last year, which was headlined by Joe Bataan, the King of Latin Soul. There we were able to verify for ourselves that Malasimbo's claim of being the first international music and arts festival of its caliber in the Asia-Pacific region is for realz.
Even the Department of Tourism is excited, giving the festival an endorsement, and recognizing it as a “prime catalyst for the country’s continued advance in music, arts, and culture.”
On the other hand, we recognize it as fun and different and trippy, which are three things that have always placed high in our priority list. If those aren’t enough for you, maybe the other reasons listed below might just encourage you to go!
