Look at this Jason Kidd fella, stealing Miami and San Antonio's thunder. Barely a week after officially announcing his retirement, the Brooklyn Nets named Kidd their new head coach—a move that was not totally all that shocking, given his rich history with the franchise. According to reports, Kidd's contract is expected to be guaranteed for three seasons with a possible fourth-year option.

With no prior coaching experience whatsoever, Nets owner Mikhail Prokhorov and general manager Billy King are expecting Kidd to echo the success of Mark Jackson, who has transitioned exceptionally well from a veteran point guard to a winning head coach with the Golden State Warriors. By hiring Kidd however, the team possibly missed out on Phil Jackson, Indiana's Brian Shaw, and Boston's Doc Rivers in the process. Hhmm, tough choices!
