In an interview with TMZ, the UFC champion neither confirmed nor denied that a match with Pacquiao was in the works. He did say, however, that he was eyeing a comeback in the Octagon for his next fight.
“I think a true fight is what I want to do next,” an unusually reserved McGregor said. He added for emphasis: “A real fight.”
Rumors started spreading after Pacquiao hinted at a potential boxing match with McGregor in a low-key Thanksgiving post last month.
If you recall, Pacquiao pulled off the same stunt before his multi-million dollar bout with Floyd Mayweather Jr. became official.
Both fighters have already lost to Mayweather, who recently stated that he was getting offers to fight in the MMA scene with over a billion dollars on the line.
