Their pearly whites say it all!
How sweeeeeet it is!
The De La Salle University Lady Spikers blocked, digged, tumbled, and attacked their way to a championship three-peat, dominating the Ateneo Lady Eagles in Game 2 of the best-of-three UAAP Season 75 Women's Volleyball Finals. It was one helluva ball game for the green-and-white squad, with them winning via straight sets and a sweet sweep of the series. Hayup!
17,268: the reported total number of fans who trooped to the game
This one's a testament to just how good the Lady Spikers are. Man, they can play, especially on the defensive end. The Lady Eagles can play, too—too bad they went up against a well-seasoned team that has now built a true dynasty. Perhaps Season 76 will be a different story, but, for now, the Animo spirit is waxing hot with this victory.
Even us dudes here at FHM HQ were amazed with how the girls from Taft did it, so much so that we decided to retell the game—all three sets of it—in photos! For those who watched the match, here's your chance to relive the exciting moments once more (sans the all-too-familiar angles your TV screen gives you). To those who missed it, well, may replay na kayo (sort of)!
The game started off just like any other game, although you can sense some jitters on the part of the players of both team. Championship pressure, this is it!
Of the two teams, DLSU was the one who made the first few arangkadas, building four point leads several times. However, being another championship-caliber team, Ateneo kept coming back.
In the first set, there were very few rallies, with each exchange ending in five or less touches.
It was a nip and tuck affair, but the Lady Spikers managed to take Set 1, 25-23.
