Time travels so fast, doesn't it? I was just talking about FIBA a couple of articles ago, and now we are halfway through the semis of the Governor's Cup! We have entered the last quarter of the year, and before you know it, Jose Mari Chan, Jackson 5 and the Chipmunks will be all you can hear because soon it will be Christmas time!
On that note, it just dawned on me how so much have happened in a short amount of time. In about two months, it is amazing how things have unfolded. Sometimes however you try or even pray, things don’t happen the way you want them to. And often, that's the feature of Time which we forget. Time holds that ‘magic’ as it passes by--the surprises that happen as it goes along.
You have Gilas winning 2nd place in the recent FIBA Asia, thus opening the door to our country’s participation in the FIBA World next year; then you have Ateneo not getting into the final four of the UAAP, which breaks the five-year tradition of the bonfire celebration; then the ultimate champion team Talk N Text ended the current tourney at 9th place, disqualifying them from the playoffs for the first time after ten conferences; then you have Petron consistently winning like a beast and eating everybody alive with its powerful line up; And in other news, you have Megan Young, the very first Filipina crowned as Ms. World and Mitoy Yonting winning the first season of The Voice.
All that said, can you just imagine what else could suddenly occur before the year ends? And you need not look too far ahead. Just consider the possibilities that can come about before this conference comes to a close. Case in point: Meralco.
If there's one thing that may have been happening unnoticed, it's Meralco's rise. Undervalued but has a great potential of reaching its peak, the team is one to watch out for. For some followers, Meralco may be considered as average. The team's record has not held any remarkable achievement yet that can be compared to others who have championships to boast.
However, this conference, we have been witnesses to astonishing accomplishments that are showcasing the Bolts' talents and skills, consequently making the audience see them more as a competent contender that will no longer be deemed ordinary.
It is at this point that i’d like to emphasize a few things that can make Meralco hope for a brighter future, and really say convincingly "ang liwanag ng bukas." Click on the next page, guys!
