It was Tuesday, April 12, when WWE superstar Edge announced his retirement from in-ring competition. The man is reportedly diagnosed with spinal stenosis, prohibiting him from wrestling and performing for good.

Spinal stenosis, according to surgeons, is an abnormal narrowing of the spinal column that occurs in several regions of the spine; at the neck, in Edge’s case.

The man also suffered several neck injuries in his career, at one point sidelining him for a whole year back in 2003.

Adam Copeland in real life, the 37-year old Canadian athlete will retire with a hall of fame worthy-career comprising of 11 World Championships, 12 World Tag Team Titles, Royal Rumber Winner in 2010, and a Wrestling Observer Match of the Year in 2002.

Paying tribute to the Rater R Superstar, we give you five of Edge’s most memorable performances in his 19-year career:

WrestleMania 2000 – Tag Team Triangle Ladder Match
In his very first WrestleMania, Edge and tag-team partner Christian battled the Hardy Boyz and the Dudley Boyz in a ladder match for the WWE Tag Team Titles. It was here that the concept of TLC match was created, because all three pairs did just that: The Dudleys used tables, the Hardys used ladders, and Edge and Christian used steel chairs to win this memorable match.
