The Jordan Clarkson-reinforced Gilas Pilipinas almost escaped with a huge upset, but ended up bowing out to a steady Chinese basketball team, 80-82, in the former's second match of the 2018 Asian Games in Indonesia.

What started out as a double-digit lead in the earlier stages of the game turned into a three-point deficit for China in the waning moments, behind a valiant fourth-quarter stand from coach Yeng Guiao and his boys. The opposing squad then scored five straight, with a last-second three-point heave from Paul Lee.

The Cleveland Cavaliers guard topscored for the PH team with 28 built on five treys, including eight rebounds and four assists, while Christian Standhardinger had 18 points and Stanley Pringle had 14, not to mention a few clutch baskets. Zhou Qi of the Houston Rockets led his side with 25 markers.
