As highly expected as Russell Westbrook's MVP coronation was, one of the biggest names who gave him props was someone we least expected.

No, we're not referring to a certain former teammate, but rather pop star Taylor Swift, who acknowledged the NBA superstar and him winning the top individual honor in basketball.

The 27-year-old hitmaker, who has been MIA this past few months, congratulated Westbrook through a video greeting on the Oklahoma City Thunder's official Twitter account. Swift even shared a fond memory with the player that supposedly inspired her to write the massive single, "Shake It Off."

As soon as she talked about teaching him "how to play basketball," we knew the story was ludicrous. That doesn't matter though for a die-hard Swiftie like Russ, who must be dying right now after seeing his favorite artist send him her best wishes.
