Though judging from its promotional video about hosting the 2020 Olympics, Tokyo might just be dead serious this time around.


During the closing ceremony of the Rio 2016 Olympics, Japan was given the chance to show a teaser trailer of what it has in store for the next Games.

Japan knew perfectly what to highlight, showcasing their love for sports and their bevy of cross-cutural video game and manga characters. Of all people, Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe joined the likes of Captain Tsubasa and Doraemon in the presentation, eliciting a standing ovation at the Macarana Stadium.
